Description For Software Engineer Intern, Summer 2025

Empirical Health is revolutionizing primary care delivery through AI and wearable technology integration. As a primary care provider, we leverage artificial intelligence and health sensors from devices like Apple Watch, Fitbit, and others to make proactive healthcare accessible to everyone.

Our platform combines an AI-powered personal health assistant with support from real human doctors, enabling comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and care. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work directly with doctors and patients, building tools that make a real difference in healthcare delivery.

Interns will tackle meaningful projects in machine learning or full-stack development, with immediate impact on user health. You'll work on exciting challenges like developing ML models to predict hospitalizations using wearable data, or creating mobile app features for AI-generated care plans for various conditions.

We're looking for candidates with strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript, React/React Native, and/or Python, combined with a passion for healthcare innovation. You'll join a dynamic team in our WeWork office in Manhattan's Union Square, with the opportunity to push code to production in your first week and complete a major patient-impacting project during your internship.

The role offers valuable perks including free lunch, in-person mentorship, and a collaborative startup environment. You'll be part of a mission-driven team working to scale primary care solutions that can prevent 1 in 2 hospitalizations. This is your chance to use your technical skills to make healthcare better for everyone while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthtech startup.
