Description For Product Developer

Finisterre, a B Corp certified leader in sustainable outdoor apparel, is seeking a Product Developer for a 3-4 month fixed-term contract starting December 2024 or early January 2025. Based at their cliff-top headquarters in St. Agnes, Cornwall, this role offers a unique opportunity to work with a purpose-led brand committed to creating exceptional products responsibly.

The Product Developer will join the Product Development team, managing the development process from 2D CAD design handover to 3D sample creation across menswear, womenswear, and accessories. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working on select categories from design handover to 2nd proto/SMS stage
  • Building prototype tech packs and managing the sampling process
  • Collaborating with Fabric, Design, Buying & Sourcing, and Technical teams
  • Communicating with suppliers and attending sample fit sessions
  • Creating and amending BOMs with high accuracy
  • Supporting fabric development and ensuring compliance standards

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Formal training or industry experience in product design/development
  • Understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and quality
  • Experience with PLM systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Passion for sustainability and alignment with Finisterre's brand values

Responsibilities For Product Developer

  • Manage product development from design handover to 2nd proto/SMS stage
  • Build prototype tech packs and manage sampling process
  • Collaborate with Fabric, Design, Buying & Sourcing, and Technical teams
  • Communicate with suppliers via phone, email, and video calls
  • Attend sample fit sessions and provide feedback
  • Create and amend BOMs with high accuracy
  • Support fabric development and ensure compliance standards are met
  • Contribute to category presentations at proto reviews
  • Assist with general admin and running of the PD team and workspace

Requirements For Product Developer

  • Formal training and/or industry experience in product design/development
  • Understanding of garment construction, fabric knowledge, bill of materials, pattern cutting, fit, quality
  • Experience using PLM systems (e.g., Backbone or Centric)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Competence in Adobe Illustrator for tech pack comments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Passion for sustainability and alignment with Finisterre brand values
