Description For R&D Manufacturing Engineer II

Form Energy is pioneering iron-air batteries for renewable energy storage. As an R&D Manufacturing Engineer II on the Prototype Build team, you'll work on developing and improving cell designs and assembly processes. You'll collaborate with Design, Electrode, and Product Engineering teams, identify new fabrication techniques, develop assembly methods, and drive continuous improvements. Key responsibilities include designing test systems, conducting failure analyses, implementing new cell architectures, and training technicians. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of manufacturing design or test experience, knowledge of lean manufacturing, and experience with DFM feedback. Responsibilities For R&D Manufacturing Engineer II

  • Design flexible test systems and fixtures for prototype and engineering validation
  • Support test data analysis, and collaborate with design engineers to resolve issues detected in testing
  • Conduct DFMEAs and failure analyses on prototype designs to inform DFM feedback
  • Develop and trial solutions to mechanical cell design and assembly processes to drive the development of a highly robust and reliable product
  • Support the implementation of new cell architectures and materials advancements into our R&D Build line
  • Train and support a highly skilled team of build and engineering technicians on the processes you establish

Requirements For R&D Manufacturing Engineer II

  • 4+ years of manufacturing design or test experience, ideally in an electro-mechanical or battery assembly environment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing; experience implementing lean process flows
  • Experience working with design engineers and providing DFM or DFA feedback
  • Experience influencing, communicating, and collaborating with a broad audience
  • Experience with statistical data analysis software such as Minitab, Jmp, or Tableau a plus
  • Experience working with electrochemical devices a plus
