Google Cloud is seeking a Cloud Database Migration Engineer to guide customers through their cloud journey. This role involves assisting customers in migrating transactional or NoSQL database systems to Google Cloud Platform and building modern GenAI applications using Google Cloud Databases. The engineer will explain technical requirements, design, plan, manage, and troubleshoot the data migration process. They will travel to customer sites to deploy solutions and deliver workshops. The role requires collaboration with Product Management and Product Engineering to drive excellence in products. Key responsibilities include acting as a trusted technical advisor, creating best practice recommendations, analyzing database environments, and consulting on optimal design for performance and deployment on Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate should have experience with Oracle databases, full stack application development, and database administration techniques. Knowledge of PostgreSQL migration, NoSQL databases, and query tuning is preferred. This position offers a competitive salary range of $118,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits, with up to 30% travel required.
Responsibilities For Cloud Database Migration Engineer
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex database migration issues
- Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, sample code, and technical presentations
- Analyze on-premises and cloud database environments and consult on the optimal design for performance and deployment on Google Cloud Platform
- Travel regularly up to 30% of the time, in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities
Requirements For Cloud Database Migration Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3 years of experience with Oracle databases and technologies (e.g., Oracle RAC, Exadata, OCI, GoldenGate, Active Data Guard, Autonomous Databases, Oracle Applications)
- Experience with full stack application development and experience writing software in Java, C#, C++, Python, Go, or JavaScript
- Experience with database administration techniques or data engineering
