Google Cloud is seeking a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer specializing in databases. This role involves supporting customers in their transition to Google Cloud products and resolving technical issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science or engineering, with experience in coding, troubleshooting, and customer advocacy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing and resolving issues on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products
- Contributing to product improvement and reducing customer contact rates
- Acting as a subject-matter expert for internal stakeholders and external partners
- Learning GCP native databases and assisting customers with migrations
- Working in a global team to provide 24-hour customer support
The role requires expertise in areas such as:
- General-purpose coding languages (Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript)
- System design and troubleshooting
- Oracle solutions, preferably on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- SQL database administration
- Cloud networking solutions and distributed computing
- Linux/Unix or Windows system administration

Responsibilities For Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Database
- Understand customer impact, handle escalations through diagnosis, trouble-shooting and resolution on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products through customer management
- Contribute to engineering with product, Site Reliability Engineering(SRE) to improve product quality and reduce contact rate
- Act as subject-matter-expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales and external partners to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve interoperability with GCP and other products
- Learn GCP native databases and help customers migrate from legacy to modern GCP databases (Spanner, BigQuery, BigTable)
- Work as part of a team of Technical Solutions Engineers globally to ensure 24 hour customer support. This will include to work non-standard work hours or shifts
Requirements For Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Database
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2 years of experience coding in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) or in system design
- 2 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process)
