Description For Developer Advocate, Application Ecosystem and Runtimes

Google is seeking a Developer Advocate for their Application Ecosystem and Runtimes team within Developer Relations. This role combines community management and technical advocacy, requiring collaboration with developers at conferences and online while representing Google's technology platforms. The position is part of the Modern Development advocacy team, focusing on empowering software developers and operators across application lifecycles, specifically in Runtimes, DevOps, and AI-assisted Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

The role demands a unique blend of technical expertise and communication skills, as you'll be creating sample code, participating in developer forums, and troubleshooting coding problems. You'll work closely with product engineering teams to improve Google's products through developer feedback, API design reviews, and new feature testing. The position involves promoting and supporting various Google platforms, including Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5, and Google Apps and Ads APIs.

As a Developer Advocate, you'll drive strategy around fostering a developer community working with Google technologies. You'll serve as a bridge between external developers and internal teams, representing developer interests to Product Managers while providing support in application development and technology implementation. The role offers competitive compensation, including a base salary range of $156,000-$229,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

Responsibilities For Developer Advocate, Application Ecosystem and Runtimes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage product engagement and identify user needs
  • Attend or facilitate conferences and events to gain and share insights on user experience and technologies
  • Lead developer programs and act as an authority in the domain
  • Contribute input and feedback on products or programs, and represent the interests of partners to internal stakeholders

Requirements For Developer Advocate, Application Ecosystem and Runtimes

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.)
  • Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions
  • Experience in programming languages, software development tools, and modern software architectures
  • Knowledge of serverless computing, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies
  • Ability to take ownership of solutions and collaborate
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and drive insights
