As the Director of Google Compute Engine (GCE), you will lead the development and operation of products, services, and tooling that facilitate workload assessment, migration, observability, code rewrite, refactor, and tooling to help seamless migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The GCE team's mission is to help customers efficiently migrate and manage their diverse workloads on Google Cloud, encompassing databases like mySQL, SQL Server and Redis, container platforms like OpenShift, and more. The team focuses on building services that facilitate seamless migration to the cloud and enable integration with Google's native and external services, offering customers the scalability and flexibility of the cloud.
Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with Product and Go-To-Market leaders to shape the multi-year strategy for migrate, modernize, and workload efforts. • Influence the product and team's direction by collaborating with peer managers within GCE, Google teams, and external partners. • Lead the team in maintaining and enhancing product, engineering, operational, and support excellence to ensure reliable and high-performance operations. • Build and develop a solid team of tech leads and engineers to execute the multi-year roadmap. • Collaborate with other engineering leaders across GCP to promote technical excellence, innovation, and best practices.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience. • 15 years of progressive experience in software engineering, with 5 years of software engineering leadership experience. • Experience in software development and engineering, with a focus on distributed systems, scalability, and performance. • Experience with cloud-based workloads, including databases (SQL Server, Redis), container platforms (OpenShift), and other enterprise applications. • Experience leading and managing high-performing engineering teams, including experience with global teams. • Deep understanding of cloud migration strategies and processes, including experience with migrating complex workloads. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and customer support.
