Description For Error Correction Simulation Research Scientist, Quantum AI

Google Quantum AI is at the forefront of quantum computing research, working to build a useful, error-corrected quantum computer. As a Research Scientist in Quantum Error Correction and Simulations, you'll be part of the modeling team developing theoretical and numerical models for superconducting qubit-based processors. Responsibilities For Error Correction Simulation Research Scientist, Quantum AI

  • Work with experimentalists to simulate and explain existing error-correction experiments
  • Develop error budgets of how physical errors contribute to logical error rates
  • Integrate new error mechanisms into simulation infrastructure to explain current and future device performance
  • Support development of new classical simulators
  • Develop and improve software interfaces between the simulations codebase and other codebases
  • Optimize device design, evaluate error mitigation techniques and error correction protocols

Requirements For Error Correction Simulation Research Scientist, Quantum AI

Python
  • PhD degree in Physics, a quantum information related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with numerical components or technical work related to numerical modeling
  • Experience with software engineering, including version control and testing
  • Experience with quantum mechanics and quantum information
  • One or more scientific publication submission(s) for conferences, journals, or public repositories
  • 2 years of coding experience in Python or C++ (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience owning and initiating research agendas (preferred)
  • Experience in high performance scientific computing, cloud computing (preferred)
  • Experience in quantum error correction, including in clifford simulators (preferred)
  • Experience with simulations of open quantum systems (preferred)
