In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the compute and control plane of the Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) platform. You will manage the platform's full lifecycle including deployment, scaling, autoscaling, upgrades, and decommissioning of VMware Private Clouds. Additionally, you will lead the transformation to next-generation compute platforms and drive customer engagement, ensuring growth and adoption of the service. Collaborating closely with Go-To-Market, Sales, Marketing and Partnerships teams, you will set the goal and strategy for the platform's control plane, focusing on upgrades, resource optimization, and node family transitions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities For Lead Group Product Manager, Compute, Google Cloud

  • Manage the full lifecycle of key platform resources, including the deployment, scaling (expansion and shrink), autoscaling, upgrades, and decommissioning of VMware Private Clouds. This control plane serves as the foundation of our service, ensuring operational excellence and reliability.
  • Lead the transformation of the GCVE service to leverage next-generation compute platforms, driving innovation and scalability to meet evolving customer demands.
  • Engage with customers, address their needs, and facilitate their usage and growth on the platform. Collaborate with Go-To-Market, Sales, Marketing, and Partnership teams to ensure customer success and expansion.
  • Define the goal and strategy for the platform's control plane.

Requirements For Lead Group Product Manager, Compute, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 5 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.
  • 5 years of experience in people management, with technical leadership.
  • Experience in developing and launching infrastructure products/technologies such as compute, networking, storage, databases, file systems, data analytics, virtualization, or cluster management in a cloud context.
