Description For Machine Learning Engineer, Gemini

Google is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for their Gemini project, a conversational AI tool that enables users to collaborate with generative AI. This role is part of Google's software engineering team, which develops next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will:

  • Research and productionize state-of-the-art post-training and inference-time techniques
  • Investigate the next generation of model improvements
  • Collaborate and share results with the broader team
  • Operate in a high-reward and fast-paced environment

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2 years of experience with NLP/LLMs
  • Experience with ML models, data handling, quality metrics, and iterations

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Master's degree or PhD in ML
  • Experience with RL modeling
  • Experience with large-scale distributed model training, MLOps, and ML infrastructure
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • A track record of pushing state-of-the-art in ML, particularly in LLMs
