Description For Program Manager, Data Center Construction

As a Program Manager at Google, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish in the Technical Infrastructure team. You'll be responsible for managing data center construction projects, supporting research and development implementation, renovations, and upgrades of existing facilities. The role involves coordinating with multiple partner teams, managing changes, and maintaining focus on project schedules and budgets. You'll work on large-scale data centers, computer farms, networking, AC and DC power distribution/conversion, and cooling methods at multiple scales. This position requires experience in data center design, development, construction, and commissioning projects. You'll need to manage large-scale technical projects in a rapidly changing industry, grow in ambiguity, and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight. The Technical Infrastructure team is responsible for developing and maintaining Google's data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms, ensuring that Google's product portfolio is possible and that users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities For Program Manager, Data Center Construction

  • Manage data center construction projects from inception to completion
  • Support special research and development implementation, renovations, and upgrades of existing facility
  • Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customer needs
  • Maintain responsibility from construction to deployment
  • Resolve highly critical issues within matrix organization while maintaining adherence to project timelines and costs

Requirements For Program Manager, Data Center Construction

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management
  • 5 years of experience with dynamic technical teams responsible for project management, engineering, and construction of data center or mission critical facilities or similar projects
  • 5 years of experience with electrical, mechanical, controls, security monitoring, fire safety, networking/fiber, server equipment, systems, and infrastructure
