Research Scientist, Labs

As a Research Scientist at Google Labs, you'll be part of a team focused on incubating early-stage efforts to support Google's mission. You'll explore novel approaches using large language models for program synthesis, semantic understanding, and developer assistance. The role involves inventing new algorithms, developing prototypes, and building tools for program synthesis and intention understanding.

You'll work in a small team prototyping environment, managing uncertainty and fluidity. The position requires a PhD in Computer Science or related field, experience with Python programming, and training or evaluating LLMs. Preferred qualifications include experience with reinforcement learning for LLMs, LLM agents, and building/deploying development tools.

As part of Google's research community, you'll have the opportunity to share and publish your findings, collaborate with partner universities and technical institutes worldwide, and contribute to the advancement of computer science in areas such as machine learning, natural language processing, and core search technologies.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $136,000-$200,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits, with the specific salary determined by factors including work location, job-related skills, and experience.
