Description For Senior Staff Research Scientist

Google Research is seeking a Senior Staff Research Scientist to contribute to their mission of building the next generation of intelligent systems for all Google products. This role involves setting up large-scale tests, deploying promising ideas, and applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies.

As a Senior Staff Research Scientist, you will:

  • Author research papers to share and generate impact of research results across the organization and in the research community.
  • Contribute to research growth by sharing trends and best practices, reviewing academic papers, serving on program committees, and organizing research conferences.
  • Deliver full projects by defining data structures, frameworks, designs, and evaluation metrics for research solution development and implementation.
  • Identify new and upcoming research areas and own long-term research strategy to expand the impact of Google research.
  • Identify undefined problems in existing technology and engage stakeholders to address them.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 6 years of experience managing research agendas across multiple teams or projects. Strong coding skills and a track record of scientific publications are essential.

This position offers the opportunity to work on real-world problems spanning various areas of computer science, including machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, and more. You'll collaborate closely with other teams across Google and contribute to the wider research community.
