Description For Technical Program Manager, Data Center Construction

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Data Center Construction to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. The role involves managing large-scale construction projects within an international working environment, focusing on data center equipment and environments. Key responsibilities include managing site-wide data center construction and delivery, ensuring development of detailed designs, managing construction aspects, and establishing vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial or technology construction, project controls, and data center environments. This position is part of the Data Center Delivery and Engineering team, which designs and constructs efficient data centers. The role requires a balance of technical expertise and program management skills, with a focus on safe and successful delivery of Data Center projects within a sub-region. Key Responsibilities:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing large-scale construction projects in an international environment
  • Familiarity with data center equipment and environments
  • Experience managing vendor relationships in the design and construction industry

Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, Data Center Construction

  • Manage a large, site-wide data center construction and delivery organization, managing scopes related to construction projects and/or capital improvement projects
  • Be responsible for ensuring the development of detailed designs, managing construction (e.g., delivery, cost, quality, and EHS), commissioning, close-out and hand-off to the operations team
  • Establish and maintain various delivery models and global relationships with multiple vendors
  • Create a growth plan and be involved in hiring/recruiting of talent in the areas of project management, field engineering, document control, technical writing, etc.
  • Research and implement construction means and methods of data center equipment and facilities. Carry design concepts into mass production and integrate into facilities

Requirements For Technical Program Manager, Data Center Construction

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in program management
  • 5 years of experience in industrial or technology construction throughout the project lifecycle
  • Experience in construction project controls, construction scheduling, project controls assurance programs, or other relevant areas
