Description For Technical Writer Manager, Google Security Operations

Google is seeking a Technical Writer Manager to lead their Security Operations documentation team. This role combines technical writing expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring 10 years of technical writing experience and 4 years of people management. The position offers a competitive salary range of $153,000-$227,000 plus benefits, equity, and bonus opportunities.

As a Technical Writer Manager, you'll be responsible for leading a team of writers, defining content strategy, and ensuring high-quality documentation for Google Security Operations. The role involves mentoring team members, conducting performance reviews, and maintaining documentation standards. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create and maintain various technical content types, including user guides, tutorials, and API documentation.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, strong technical writing background, and proven leadership abilities. Experience with UX writing is preferred. Responsibilities For Technical Writer Manager, Google Security Operations

  • Lead and mentor a team of technical writers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for team members
  • Define and implement the content strategy for Google Security Operations documentation, aligning it with the overall product roadmap and business objectives
  • Establish and maintain processes to ensure consistency and quality across all documentation
  • Oversee the planning, creation, and maintenance of user guides, tutorials, API documentation, white papers, and other technical content
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation
  • Communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to stakeholders
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in Security Operations and adapt content strategy accordingly
  • Be responsible for and manage the document portion of the product launch process
