Description For Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Kepak McIntosh Donald, a globally recognized brand and the largest red meat producer in Scotland, is seeking a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Maintenance and Engineering team. This role involves providing effective maintenance support to the Production team, maintaining and repairing equipment, machinery, and tools used in the factory.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Electrical and Mechanical maintenance, with experience in fault-finding, quality inspections, and working on high-speed, PLC-controlled plant and packaging equipment. They should be comfortable with pneumatic and hydraulic control systems, and have the ability to carry out Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines.

Key responsibilities include monitoring production line performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and working closely with equipment suppliers on new installations and modifications. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, using CMMS systems to record work and changes, and participating in training and development activities.

The position follows a rotating shift cover roster (4 on / 4 off), dayshift pattern, requiring flexibility and commitment. The successful candidate will contribute to machinery compliance with health and safety legislation, as well as site food hygiene and safety requirements.

Responsibilities For Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

  • Provide effective maintenance support to the Production team
  • Maintain and repair equipment, machinery, and tools used in the factory
  • Undertake Electrical and Mechanical routine maintenance of equipment
  • Perform quality inspections and fault finding on production lines and processes
  • Carry out electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment
  • Provide technical support for plant facilities and services
  • Carry out Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines inspections, reports, and remedial works
  • Monitor production line and machine performance
  • Work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas and achieve 5S standard
  • Use maintenance management system (CMMS) to record changes and work carried out
  • Participate in toolbox talks and undertake permit to work and/or risk assessments
  • Support and participate in rotating shift cover roster (4 on / 4 off), dayshift pattern

Requirements For Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Java
  • Suitable Mechanical and/or Electrical Qualification essential
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (meat/food production experience advantageous)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration, and PTW systems
  • Strong diagnostic/root cause analysis skills
  • Proactive and 'can-do' attitude
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and company processes/procedures
  • Fluent English, with good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under own initiative
  • Relationship building and influencing skills
