The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is seeking a Marine Engineer for the TS Jack Petchey. This unique offshore role involves delivering maintenance and safe operation of all machinery on board the vessel. The primary responsibilities include supporting the Commanding Officer, conducting routine maintenance, operating various systems, and assisting with cadet training.
Key aspects of the role:
- Location: Operating from Gosport, sailing around the UK and near-continent
- Contract: Full-time, permanent
- Salary: £33,000 gross per annum
- Work environment: On-site, seagoing employment
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and operate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and water systems
- Conduct repairs and planned maintenance
- Utilize Electronic Planned Maintenance System
- Liaise with contractors and guide relief Marine Engineers
- Support cadet training program
- Ensure compliance with MSSC's safeguarding policies
Requirements:
- Approved Engine Course (AEC preferred) or equivalent experience
- ENG1 or ML5 medical certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Computer literacy
- Team player with ability to work in small groups
