Description For Software Engineer

Mollie is on a mission to make money management effortless for every business in Europe. As a Software Engineer in our Tech Hub in Lisbon, you will be contributing to this mission by delivering an outstanding Merchant Experience, following the best Security Standards, and ensuring that our APIs are scalable and performant at all times. You will be a key contributor in allowing Mollie to launch its next set of Payments and Financial Products.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Tackling scalability challenges, optimising latency (to no more than few ms) for critical API endpoints
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, especially Security
  • Ensuring intrinsically secure and top-notch user journeys
  • Designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and systems that support Mollie's internal teams

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in developing large-scale web applications
  • Experience in Object-Oriented Programming (PHP preferred, but other languages are welcome)
  • Knowledge of modern queuing and caching systems like RabbitMQ and Redis
  • Great communication skills and a proven past of working effectively with different stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience in designing large-scale systems, handling performance, scalability, and latency
  • A background working with Google Cloud Platform and/or working as a DevOps engineer
