Morgan Stanley is seeking a Senior Analyst/Mainframe Developer to lead their Legacy Modernization initiatives in Glasgow. This role is part of a critical program to modernize and decommission the 40+ year old ISG Mainframe systems. The position combines technical expertise in mainframe development with leadership responsibilities in managing complex system transitions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with mainframe systems, particularly Natural/Adabas, and various ISG-specific tools. They will be responsible for developing interfaces between distributed and mainframe systems, managing dependencies, and ensuring smooth decommissioning of legacy systems. Responsibilities For Senior Analyst/Mainframe Developer

  • Oversee and advise distributed teams on replacement risks and limitations
  • Develop interfaces between distributed systems and mainframe reference tables
  • Collaborate with teams to support analysis and development needs
  • Manage and track program progress and dependency trackers
  • Participate in Development, Testing, Troubleshooting activities
  • Facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders
  • Conduct analysis of mainframe resources across departments
  • Manage dependencies between departments
  • Lead decommissioning of mainframe systems
  • Develop and automate metrics

Requirements For Senior Analyst/Mainframe Developer

  • Minimum of 10 years of hand-on technical experience with mainframe systems
  • Proficiency in mainframe development, particularly with Natural/Adabas
  • Knowledge of ISG-specific tools like ICUA, FAU, RFUC, FMOD, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL
  • Experience with Shadow and MQ for interface development
  • Understanding of MS system relationships and roles
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong Excel Skills – Excel VBA
