Following successful broadcasts of NFL Christmas Day Games, high-profile boxing matches, and WWE series, they're now seeking a Network Reliability Engineer to join their innovative Live Broadcast team.

This Staff-level position represents a unique opportunity at the convergence of IP networks, broadcast technologies, and software-managed infrastructure. The role demands an experienced professional who can bridge the gap between traditional networking and modern cloud-based solutions, while ensuring the reliability and scalability of Netflix's live broadcasting capabilities.

The position offers an attractive compensation range of $100,000 - $720,000, with a flexible structure allowing employees to choose their preferred mix of salary and stock options. Based in either Los Angeles or Los Gatos, California, this role requires an on-site presence and occasional travel for live event support.

The ideal candidate will bring expert-level networking knowledge, strong reliability engineering experience, and a software-focused mindset. They'll be responsible for designing and operating the infrastructure that powers Netflix's live signal acquisition and distribution, while driving continuous improvements through automation and monitoring.

Responsibilities For Network Reliability Engineer (L5) Live Broadcast

  • Innovate, design, implement, and operate infrastructure supporting Live signal acquisition, inspection, validation, and distribution
  • Drive improvement in monitoring, configuration management, instrumentation, and automation
  • Utilize infrastructure as code to operate and scale the environment
  • Leverage distributed analytic processing technologies for service insights
  • Partner with support teams to improve Netflix experience
  • Support Live events and operations teams as technical expert and on-call rotation

Requirements For Network Reliability Engineer (L5) Live Broadcast

Linux
Kubernetes
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Expert-level knowledge of networking technologies
  • Strong Service Reliability/Operational experience running large-scale infrastructure
  • Ability to code and understand basic software engineering principles
  • Expertise in IP based Broadcast technologies and protocols (SMPTE, SCTE, NMOS PTP)
  • Experience in cloud/hybrid based technologies
  • Engineering, data-driven mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in highly collaborative environment
