Description For IC Design Verification Engineer, Entry Level

NXP Semiconductors is seeking an Entry-Level IC Design Verification Engineer to join their Advanced Chip Engineering (ACE) team in Kanata. This role is part of a highly experienced R&D team focused on developing Intellectual Property (IP) for advanced microcontrollers and microprocessors, specifically working on networking switch and network controller IP core (NETC) supporting the latest TSN standards.

The position offers an exceptional opportunity to work on products that generate billions in annual revenue and are found in automotive applications, smart devices, and industrial settings. As part of the ACE organization, you'll be involved in hardware engineering, including architecture, IP, and full SoC design.

The ideal candidate will be involved in developing and executing verification solutions for hardware SoC products, working with verilog simulation environments, and collaborating closely with IC Design Engineers. This role requires a strong foundation in electrical or computer engineering, with hands-on experience in hardware design or verification.

Responsibilities For IC Design Verification Engineer, Entry Level

  • Develop solutions for the verification of hardware System On Chip (SoC) products
  • Develop, execute and debug functional tests in a verilog simulation environment
  • Analyze requirements, assist in defining verification plans and strategy
  • Develop simulation testcases, including drivers and monitors
  • Work closely with IC Design Engineers
  • Determine RTL code coverage and address coverage issues
  • Assist in development of verification environment

Requirements For IC Design Verification Engineer, Entry Level

Linux
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering program
  • Student work experience in hardware design or verification environment
  • Focus on quality of results, with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Must be a dynamic team player
  • Knowledge of digital design verification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of C, System Verilog, UVM (preferred)
  • L2 and L3 networking protocols implementation knowledge (preferred)
  • Good knowledge of Unix/Linux, Perl, LSF (preferred)
  • Knowledge of constrained random verification (preferred)
