Forward Deployed Engineer - Seattle

OpenAI is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in Seattle to join their growing team focused on implementing AI solutions for strategic customers. The Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team works with OpenAI's most strategic customers to translate abstract ideas into production applications. As an FDE, you'll be responsible for embedding with customers, understanding their domain, and co-developing solutions to tackle real problems in evolving problem spaces. The role requires proficiency in both frontend (React/Next.js) and backend (Python/Node.js) development, along with experience in cloud platforms and AI/ML implementations.

The position operates on a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office per week and offers relocation assistance. You'll be expected to travel up to 50% of the time to work directly with customers. The role combines technical development with strategic customer interaction, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy both coding and client engagement.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing full-stack solutions, preparing detailed project plans, and working hands-on with customer technical teams. You'll also collaborate closely with internal teams including Sales, Technical Success, and Applied teams to ensure project success and provide valuable product feedback.
