Description For Security Engineer, Detection & Response

OpenAI is seeking a Security Engineer specializing in Detection & Response to join their Singapore team. This role is integral to OpenAI's mission of ensuring AI benefits humanity through robust security measures. As part of the Security team, you'll work on protecting OpenAI's technology, people, and products while contributing to cutting-edge AI research.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of security and artificial intelligence, focusing on building and operating detection and response infrastructure. You'll be responsible for developing and managing detection rules, automating response processes, and ensuring comprehensive visibility across OpenAI's endpoint fleet.

The ideal candidate will bring strong security expertise, cloud platform experience (particularly with Microsoft Azure), and proficiency in scripting languages. You'll work in a collaborative environment where security is fundamental to the company's mission of developing safe and beneficial AI systems.

Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Detection & Response

  • Drive projects in all major security verticals including: AppSec, InfraSec, OffSec and Detection and Response
  • Innovate on Detection and Response infrastructure
  • Build tools for managing the lifecycle of detection rules
  • Develop, measure, and tune detection rules to ensure effective and sustainable operations
  • Automate manual response processes
  • Ensure visibility and control of OpenAI's endpoint fleet (macOS, Windows)
  • Drive improvements across identity access and management (IAM), device management, productivity software, and public cloud environments

Requirements For Security Engineer, Detection & Response

Python
  • Experience in Security or a Security-adjacent field
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or cloud infrastructure platforms
  • Knowledge of modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Proficiency with a scripting language (e.g. Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Ability to empathize and collaborate with colleagues, independently manage and run projects, and prioritize efforts for risk reduction
