We are seeking an experienced Onsite Construction Manager to oversee the onsite construction of data centers performed by colocation providers. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are managed effectively to meet schedule, quality, and design requirements. The Onsite Construction Manager will be part of a group of professionals dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art data center facilities at scale and at pace. This team comprises experienced project managers, commissioning experts, and construction specialists who work collaboratively to ensure the successful execution of complex data center construction projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project Oversight: Provide an onsite presence for the construction of major data centers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
- Risk Evaluation: Analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles associated with timely delivery and inform the business of potential impacts.
- Tenant Fit Out Integration: Coordinate and integrate the separate scope of tenant fit out projects with the DCIB teams.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams to ensure construction activities align with approved plans and specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement.
- Onsite Presence: Maintain a physical onsite presence between 50-100% of the time, including potential international projects.
This role requires extensive knowledge of data center construction, expertise in managing startup and commissioning phases, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in construction project management, focusing on data center or colocation infrastructure.
