Paces is revolutionizing the green infrastructure development landscape by solving a critical industry problem: 80% of clean energy projects never reach completion due to insufficient due diligence in zoning and interconnection, resulting in $17B worth of canceled projects annually.
As a Data Engineer at Paces, you'll be at the forefront of building scalable solutions that help transform the built environment into climate-positive infrastructure. You'll join a dynamic team in Brooklyn, New York, alongside talented professionals from AWS, Meta AI, Deepmind, and other leading companies.
The role involves designing and implementing ETL data pipelines that process data from hundreds of sources, including environmental, permitting, zoning, and energy grid information. You'll optimize storage and retrieval systems while ensuring data quality and security across the platform. Working closely with the CTO, Data Infra Lead, and Product Lead, you'll directly impact the product roadmap.
We're looking for candidates with strong data engineering fundamentals, proficiency in languages like Python, Rust, or Scala, and advanced SQL expertise. Experience with big data tools (Spark) and pipeline orchestration (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect) is essential. You should have proven experience building scalable data pipelines on major cloud platforms.
The ideal candidate has a bias toward action, shares our passion for climate impact, thrives in fast-paced startup environments, and is eager to grow with the company. Experience with geospatial datasets and modern data tools (Apache Arrow, DuckDB, DeltaLake) is a plus.
Backed by $13M+ in funding from Navitas Capital, Resolute Ventures, and Y Combinator, we're well-positioned for growth. We offer competitive compensation ($100K-150K), equity, comprehensive benefits, and a hybrid work environment. Join us in making a meaningful impact on climate change while building your career at the intersection of technology and sustainability.
