Description For Windows Support Engineer - II (AD + IIS)

Rackspace is seeking a Windows Support Engineer II to join their Global Technical Support team in a remote night shift position. This role is crucial within Rackspace's support infrastructure, focusing on providing expert-level technical support for Windows environments, particularly Active Directory and IIS systems. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience in OS Systems Engineering and will serve as a technical escalation point, handling complex customer issues that may span days or weeks.

The position requires deep expertise in Windows Server environments, cloud platforms, and virtualization technologies. You'll be responsible for engineering, designing, and developing hardware, software, and networking systems while ensuring high availability and security standards. Responsibilities For Windows Support Engineer - II (AD + IIS)

  • Provide high-level technical support via phone and ticketing system
  • Own complex customer issues through resolution
  • Lead customer engagements (both technical and non-technical)
  • Participate in systems architecture enhancements and problem management
  • Mentor and assist other Rackers across the OS Function
  • Act as technical escalation point for OS Support and Engineering teams
  • Ensure adherence to customer & SLA commitments
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with other Engineers
  • Participate in complex ticket escalations
  • Help ensure adoption of policy, standards, and procedures on the team

Requirements For Windows Support Engineer - II (AD + IIS)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field (or 4 years equivalent experience)
  • 4-7 years of experience in OS Systems Engineering and Administration
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware, networking, backup, and storage solutions
  • Proficient knowledge of Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, OpenStack, Hyper-V)
  • Proficient knowledge of Cloud Platform Products (Azure/AWS/GCP)
  • Intermediate scripting competency in PowerShell, Python, PHP, or Go
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Windows Server Failover Clustering, Active Directory, IIS
