Description For Senior Data Engineer

Softrams, a rapidly growing digital services firm in the Washington Metropolitan area, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a position in federal health IT solutions. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a comprehensive understanding of data engineering within a cloud environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring the availability, quality, and security of data to support business intelligence and advanced analytics initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and optimizing scalable data pipelines on AWS
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data requirements
  • Designing and maintaining robust data infrastructure
  • Managing large volumes of structured and unstructured data
  • Creating and enhancing data ingestion processes using Apache Spark
  • Building data visualizations using PySpark and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Implementing best practices for data security and compliance

Required qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or related field (PhD is a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in programming with Python for data engineering
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark
  • Proficiency in data manipulation using Python libraries (NumPy, Pandas)
  • Expertise in AWS services (EMR, S3, Redshift)
  • 4+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL
  • 2+ years of experience with Jupyter Notebooks
