SpaceX is seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer to join the Crew Starship Avionics team. This role is crucial in developing avionics for the SpaceX Human Landing System, which will carry astronauts to the moon as part of NASA's Artemis program. The position involves working on sophisticated systems for one of the largest crewed vehicles in space, covering communications, power, life support, navigation, and more.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the responsible engineer for avionics vehicle systems across design, integration, test, and launch
- Defining detailed system designs, including schematics, budgets, and fault tolerance
- Collaborating with other teams to perform system trades and define vehicle architecture
- Analyzing and tracking key performance metrics for avionics systems
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues from integration through critical pad operations
- Supporting NASA with deliverables for Crew Starship milestones
- Verifying test coverage and flight readiness for avionics system hardware
The ideal candidate should have:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or related field
- At least 2 years of experience with electrical component design, system integration, or testing
- Passion for spaceflight and high-reliability electronic systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under time and resource constraints
- Experience with various aspects of electronic systems, including wire harness design, CAD software, and electrical test equipment
