Build Reliability Engineer (Dragon)

SpaceX is seeking a Build Reliability Engineer for their Dragon program. This role is part of an inclusive, inter-disciplinary team committed to the reliability of flight components and production assemblies. The position supports various systems including propulsion, life support, mechanisms, parachutes, and vehicle integration.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with core groups at SpaceX, guiding hardware from design to production and operation. They will use data to understand reliability factors, support quality objectives, and drive improvements in manufacturing, test, and flight reliability. The role requires both the ability to dive deep into technical details and maintain a system-level approach to prioritize issues.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with design and manufacturing teams to create quality plans for flight hardware
• Investigating failures and identifying root causes to improve reliability
• Developing and implementing Lean test and inspection processes
• Monitoring product and process success through production ramp-up
• Conducting build quality reviews and driving improvements
• Supporting the shop floor in continuous improvement and advancing a Lean production system

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Preferred skills include strong interpersonal abilities, experience with quality tools and Lean principles, and knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
