Description For Electrical Engineer (Infrastructure Construction)

As a member of the HQ construction team at SpaceX, you will design, build, and activate some of the world's most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. As an electrical engineer on the MEP team, you will design and build high power electrical systems that directly contribute to new construction projects. You will operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, excel at managing multiple projects at a time, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with other construction engineers, architects, trade partners, and internal customers to support these goals and have the opportunity to drive real global impact, ultimately leading to making life multiplanetary. The position is based in Hawthorne, CA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and specifying electrical power distribution systems, switch-gear, motor control centers, lighting, ground support system controls, UPS units, generators, and more.
  • Providing electrical engineering support for troubleshooting and design of facility components.
  • Ensuring proper equipment interfaces and conformity to applicable codes and regulations.
  • Coordinating with local electrical utilities and performing code reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 1+ years of professional experience in electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS's, and/or generators.

Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Experience with VFDs, industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium voltage distribution, and control panel design.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.

This is not a remote or hybrid position and may require extended hours and weekend work when needed. Candidates must be able to meet ITAR requirements.
