Description For Senior Engineer

StoryToys is a leading developer of educational mobile apps and games for children, boasting over 200 million downloads across major platforms. They collaborate with prestigious brands like LEGO, Disney, Pixar, and Marvel to create engaging educational content. As a Senior Engineer, you'll be instrumental in developing mobile games using Unity, focusing on creating high-quality, performant applications that millions of children will enjoy and learn from.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in Unity, C#, and game development best practices. You'll work in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams including designers, UX/UI specialists, and artists. The position demands strong optimization skills, focusing on memory usage, frame rates, and garbage collection, while maintaining code quality and reusability.

This 12-month Fixed Term Contract position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on educational gaming, working with world-renowned brands. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of software development experience, with 3+ years in Unity, and a proven track record of shipping games. Strong C# programming skills, debugging capabilities, and a deep understanding of game development principles are essential.

Responsibilities For Senior Engineer

  • Develop entertaining, educational mobile games using Unity engine for multiple platforms
  • Develop and advocate for quality, performant, and reusable implementations
  • Train other developers in Unity
  • Produce clean, efficient, and optimized code with focus on memory usage and performance
  • Work in an Agile cross-disciplinary team
  • Collaborate with designers and UX/UI teams
  • Contribute to user story estimation and technical task breakdown
  • Write content pipeline tools and editor extensions
  • Work with Art team on artwork implementation
  • Test code and work with QA team
  • Develop and implement org-wide systems
  • Write technical documentation
  • Improve development processes

Requirements For Senior Engineer

  • At least 5 years of software development experience
  • At least 3 years of experience with Unity
  • Minimum of one shipped title
  • Excellent C# skills
  • Excellent debugging skills
  • Great communication skills
  • Solid understanding of real-time rendering and rendering bottlenecks
  • Solid understanding of low-latency and low-garbage code in C#
  • Fluent in using Git
  • Strong understanding of SOLID programming principles
  • Experience with complex systems architecture
