Senior Software Engineer, MapQuest

System1 is seeking a dynamic Senior Frontend Engineer to join our team and work on MapQuest products. MapQuest is a powerful web and mobile platform that provides point of interest information, search capabilities, and route creation for our diverse customer base.

In this role, you will design, build, operate, debug, optimize, and deploy highly-distributed, low-latency web-based systems. Leading a team of skilled engineers, you will not only write code but also bring a passion for your craft and a commitment to continuous learning. Key Responsibilities:

• Help architect and develop features of the MapQuest and RoadWarrior applications
• Design, implement and A/B test new features
• Automate, optimize, and fortify the development process
• Own tasks end to end, taking projects through the full engineering lifecycle
• Collaborate and problem solve with engineers and stakeholders
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy and lightweight planning processes

Requirements:

• 5+ years of development experience
• 2+ years of hands-on production experience in developing and maintaining modern frontend applications
• 2+ years of experience working with GraphQL
• 2+ years of experience working with web app infrastructure and monitoring
• Ability to adhere to best practices and coding conventions
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Experience with mapping APIs is a big plus
