Software Security Engineer (Junior)

As a Junior Software Security Engineer, you'll be part of a team dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the security of Takealot's systems. Your responsibilities will include supporting defensive security efforts, monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and learning to apply automation through SOAR technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the team in defensive security
• Monitor SIEM, IPS/IDS, UEBA, and other security systems
• Respond to security incidents
• Collaborate with the broader security team to secure systems
• Learn and apply automation through SOAR technologies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Passion for technology and security
• Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Solid reasoning and decision-making abilities
• Ability to work under pressure
• Formal qualification/degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 1-2 years of professional experience or internship in a security or similar role
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CEH, Security+, Pentest+, CySA+)
• Working knowledge of Open Source Operating Systems and Applications
• Understanding of web technologies, networking, and cloud computing
• Basic SQL knowledge (NoSQL is a plus)
• Understanding of various security systems (SIEM, SOC, SOAR, IPS/IDS, IR, DFIR)
• Basic coding/scripting experience (Python, bash, javascript, etc.)
