Tesla is seeking an Automation Control Engineer to join their team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is crucial for implementing equipment controls solutions for cell manufacturing projects, combining expertise in automation, robotics, and control systems. The position offers a comprehensive compensation package ranging from $80,000 to $198,000 annually, plus additional benefits and stock awards.

The ideal candidate will work with various PLC platforms, develop robust control systems, and manage automated manufacturing equipment. Responsibilities For Automation Control Engineers

  • Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms
  • Develop organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable code
  • Use Python scripting and SQL to interface equipment with Tesla Manufacturing Execution System
  • Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces
  • Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs
  • Design and implement control reliable safety systems
  • Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
  • Participate in equipment conceptual development
  • Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation

Requirements For Automation Control Engineers

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or 5+ years' experience in Control Systems
  • PLC experience (Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi or B&R preferred)
  • Human Machine Interface experience
  • Proficiency creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD
  • Structured Text and Ladder Logic programming skills
