Description For Cell Engineer, Cell Development

Tesla's Cell Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced engineer to lead the cross-functional design and validation of new battery cell designs. As the technical project leader, you'll drive efforts both within Tesla and with external cell manufacturers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Driving key engineering decisions with Tesla teams and external cell manufacturers
  • Collaborating with internal design teams to define cell performance requirements
  • Negotiating requirements and final product specifications with cell manufacturers
  • Defining test plans to validate new cell designs and root cause new failure modes
  • Synthesizing test results and reporting to Tesla leadership

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware development
  • Strong engineering fundamentals
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams and manufacturing partners
  • Experience in lithium-ion cell design, qualification, manufacturing, or related fields is a plus
  • Willingness for quarterly overseas travel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
