Description For Engineering Technician, Tesla Bot (Night Shift)

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their Humanoid AI Robot team for the night shift position (10 PM to 6 AM) in the Bay Area. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics technology at one of the world's most innovative companies.

The position involves working directly with engineers on the development and maintenance of prototype robots and sub-systems. As an Engineering Technician, you'll be at the forefront of building and maintaining the first iterations of advanced humanoid robots, requiring expertise in mechatronics, industrial automation, and precision engineering.

The role combines hands-on technical work with analytical responsibilities, including assembly, testing, and documentation. You'll be working with both mechanical and electrical systems, requiring proficiency with various tools and testing equipment. Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Tesla Bot (Night Shift)

  • Work with Engineers to fabricate, assemble, and integrate mobile robot prototypes
  • Develop test plans and test systems, including building of assembly jigs
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to root cause and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
  • Provide detailed written & verbal test status updates
  • Provide daily bot inspections and shift pass down reports
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab
  • Support bench-top electrical system builds and testing
  • Support low volume prototype part builds and testing

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Tesla Bot (Night Shift)

Python
  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Technician in Robotics, Automotive Service, Precision Medical Devices, R&D, or Manufacturing
  • Experience with hand and power tools, high & low voltage systems, wire harnesses assembly
  • Ability to interpret drawings and 3D CAD, and read Mechanical & Electrical drawing diagrams
  • Understanding and creating work instructions SOP for service repair
  • Analytical problem solving skills & FA root cause analysis
  • Must be able to use spreadsheet tools and JIRA
  • Must be able lift 37lbs and work in 24/7 shifts coverage
  • Must be able to work within Bay Area sites with occasional travel
