Description For Engineering Technician, Vehicle Closure Components

Tesla is seeking highly motivated entry-level Engineering Technicians to support accelerated product durability testing for vehicle closure components. This hands-on role involves assembling and disassembling vehicle components like door latches, struts, trunk, and hood, as well as building test fixtures and executing tests. The ideal candidate should have a passion for learning and developing new skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing tests: setup, inspections, maintenance, and retrofits
  • Documenting and reporting issues identified during tests or inspections
  • Collaborating with Engineers to resolve mechanical & electrical issues
  • Supporting Engineers in instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Assisting and learning from other Technicians and Engineers
  • Assembling & wiring test fixtures

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with a desire for professional development
  • Basic experience with MS Office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word)
  • Experience with measurement tools and fabrication equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
  • Understanding of Ohms law, Kirchhoff's laws
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and CAN communication
  • Experience working with low voltage components
