Description For Engineering Technician, Vehicle Test

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Technician for Vehicle Test to join their Engineering Test Team. This role involves supporting vehicle level testing for Reliability and Durability tests performed in-house and at external test labs. The primary responsibility is to collaborate directly with Engineering teams in executing vehicle level tests at various proving grounds.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Test Engineers & Technicians in vehicle test execution
  • Communicating directly with various Engineering teams for status updates and problem-solving
  • Supporting different teams within the Engineering organization
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Managing time effectively to complete parallel assignments

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5+ years in the automotive service industry
  • Technical / automotive ASE (or equivalent) certification
  • Advanced diagnosing capabilities on electric / hybrid vehicles
  • In-depth understanding of full vehicle systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and other Tesla systems
  • Basic fabrication and instrumentation knowledge
  • Flexibility to work long hours and weekends when required
  • Ability to travel up to 15% a year

  • Basic fabrication skills
  • Basic instrumentation knowledge
  • Vehicle & controller firmware deployment and diagnosis skills
  • Flexibility to work long hours and weekends when required
  • Ability to travel up to 15% a year
