Internship, Assembly Engineer, Cell Manufacturing (Winter/Spring 2025)

Tesla is offering an internship opportunity for an Assembly Engineer in Cell Manufacturing for Winter/Spring 2025. This internship is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e., through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. The position requires a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site commitment.

The intern will contribute to process improvement of new assembly lines for advanced cell manufacturing equipment for Tesla's cutting-edge 4680 Battery Cells. They will work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of the product and processes, collaborating closely with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing), Quality, and production teams.

Responsibilities may include:

• Developing and deploying vision systems for Tesla Cell Manufacturing production lines
• Analyzing performance of vision systems and implementing new features
• Innovating, engineering, manufacturing, and installing new processes and high-volume automation equipment
• Coordinating cross-functional design activities with equipment suppliers
• Problem-solving, designing, prototyping, testing, and launching new parts and processes to improve cells
• Working on automation system installations, cell defect root cause analysis, cycle time analysis and optimization, Design of Experiments, and project management

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX, Fusion360, SolidWorks, or CATIA
• Experience with project management and revision control tools (Jira, Github)
• Experience working with industrial machine vision cameras
