Tesla's Cell Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking highly-motivated Manufacturing Engineering Technicians for an exciting new project. This role involves developing, commissioning, and ramping up high-speed automated equipment while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate, and roll out process and product design changes.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This position offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to Tesla's products. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting development, commissioning, and ramp of custom high-speed automated manufacturing equipment
- Performing equipment setup, operation, adjustments, and maintenance tasks
- Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineers and suppliers to identify and solve inline issues
- Debugging and optimizing automated processes to reduce cycle times and maximize OEE
- Troubleshooting and recovering processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software
- Identifying critical spare parts and ensuring sufficient coverage
- Building operating procedures, training materials, and documentation for equipment life cycle management
- Conducting analytical tests and interpreting data
- Participating in supplier/internal equipment FAT and SAT
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on operational and technical experience with mechatronics or electromechanical systems
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
- Metal working and fabrication skills
- Experience with high and low voltage systems
- Proficiency in using electrical tools and basic wiring knowledge
- Strong problem-solving abilities and data-driven approach
- Availability for domestic/international travel as required
- Physical capabilities to perform demanding work for extended periods
