Description For Mechanical Design Engineer, Electronic Control Unit

Tesla's Autopilot & Electronics PD team is seeking motivated individuals to shape the future of Autonomy with the Tesla Semi. As a Mechanical Design Engineer for Electronic Control Units (ECU), you'll be at the forefront of innovation, developing vital components for the Tesla Semi's advancements in Autonomy. You'll have full ownership of projects from initial concept and architecture to vehicle launch.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing parts, assemblies, and mechanisms using CAD software
  • Building and testing prototypes to validate designs
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Applying creative problem-solving skills
  • Preparing detailed design documentation
  • Managing multiple design projects simultaneously
  • Staying informed about industry trends and incorporating best practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-3 years of industry equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (CATIA preferred)
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
  • Experience in prototyping and FEA principles
  • GD&T knowledge and tolerance analyses experience
  • Creative problem-solving skills
