Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer specializing in Abuse Test & Engineering for their Semi division. This role involves running experiments to understand the abuse tolerance of mechanical components and systems, assessing hazards, and collaborating on hardware development across Tesla's product line.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating experiments to push mechanical systems to their limits
  • Studying the properties of mechanical failures
  • Root causing and recreating failure modes
  • Writing specifications that shape product design across Tesla's entire product range

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent experience
  • A strong foundation in mechanical, thermal, and electrical principles
  • Experience with automotive or grid-scale energy components or systems (preferred)
