Description For Sr. Cabling Design Engineer, AI Infrastructure

Tesla is seeking a Senior Cabling Design Engineer to drive cabling design for large-scale data centers supporting their AI infrastructure. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop structured cabling infrastructure solutions and working with industry suppliers to implement new technologies.

Responsibilities For Sr. Cabling Design Engineer, AI Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver designs that meet capacity and network requirements
  • Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designs
  • Install cable pathway systems and infrastructure
  • Install, terminate, test, label, and document horizontal, backbone and other cables
  • Build out telecommunication and equipment rooms and Data Center Racking
  • Perform continuity checks and correct wiring errors
  • Perform complex technical assignments involving communications systems
  • Read and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings

Requirements For Sr. Cabling Design Engineer, AI Infrastructure

  • 3-5 years of experience leading fiber optics and copper cabling systems in Data center environment
  • Proven ability to install, terminate and test low voltage cables and fiber optical cables
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards (BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA)
  • Knowledge of telecom network best practices and concepts
  • Experience operating articulating boom lifts and work site machinery
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and/or tight spaces
  • Ability to travel (10-25%) as required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs
