Tesla's Manufacturing Test Engineering group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team working on automated test equipment for power electronic components used in vehicles, stationary storage, humanoid robots, and charging products. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise with automation and robotics, offering an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that's part of Tesla's manufacturing innovation, or as they call it, "the machine that builds the machine."

The position demands a hands-on approach to designing and implementing automated test equipment, requiring both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills. Responsibilities For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Semi

  • Architect automated test equipment, produce detailed-level CAD models
  • Conceptual equipment development and balance product specifications
  • Identify opportunities and implement performance improvements
  • Analyze system constraints and propose innovative solutions
  • Support building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts
  • Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery
  • Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment

Requirements For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Semi

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer
  • Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
  • Knowledge in solid mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, dynamics, material selection, prototyping
  • Exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, robots, relays
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Versed in SolidWorks, PDM, and Ansys, or similar CAD/CAE software
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
