Tesla is seeking a Senior Power System Controls Engineer to join their System Controls and Modeling team, focusing on developing high-performance power controls for the Tesla energy ecosystem. The position involves working on crucial components of Tesla's energy products, including the Site Controller, Microgrid Controller, Megapack, Powerwall, and Supercharger. Responsibilities For Sr. Power System Controls Engineer

  • Create models to represent the Tesla Energy system in dynamic modeling software and real time simulations tools
  • Increase in-house capability to model Tesla's product in HIL testing environment
  • Perform modelling and HIL testing to test product behavior meets design specification
  • Improve and build HIL test setups and automate them to perform regression tests

Requirements For Sr. Power System Controls Engineer

Python
Rust
  • Expert knowledge of at least two power system modelling and HIL tools: Simulink, Typhoon, OPAL-RT, PSCAD
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language: Rust, Python, C, C++
  • Direct experience modelling large and small grids with deep understanding of grid level performance requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of control theory, ability to implement PID control
  • Experience setting up full HIL testing systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross functionally
