Tesla's Sensing Hardware Team is seeking a Staff Sensor Hardware Engineer to join their innovative Tesla Bot project. This role combines cutting-edge robotics with practical engineering challenges, focusing on developing state-of-the-art sensing technologies for manipulation and locomotion in Tesla Bot. As a Staff Sensor Hardware Engineer, you'll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of sensing systems, from initial architecture and design through to production deployment. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, supply chain, and manufacturing, to create robust and scalable sensing solutions. You'll lead technical discussions, manage complex projects, and solve challenging engineering problems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities For Staff Sensor Hardware Engineer, Tesla Bot

  • Drive sensing subsystems design and execution through specification generation
  • Lead cross-functional sensor design discussions
  • Translate sensor design discussions into design documents
  • Create schematic designs using EDA tools
  • Supervise PCB layout and board design
  • Work with supply chain team on BOM definition
  • Support early sensor prototype development
  • Generate and execute test plans
  • Ensure hardware meets qualification requirements
  • Work with Manufacturing/Test teams for high-volume production

Requirements For Staff Sensor Hardware Engineer, Tesla Bot

Python
  • Fundamental knowledge of circuit design, analog analysis, sensor physics, and statistics
  • Strong electrical engineering background in board-level analog and mixed-signal design
  • Hands-on experience in system-level design, architecture, characterization and validation
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation tools
  • Proficiency in data visualization and statistical analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in high-volume mass production
  • Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related fields with 8+ years of industry experience
