Description For Technical Program Manager, Power Electronics Control Firmware

Tesla's Energy Engineering Products team is seeking a Software Program Manager to lead the delivery of outstanding firmware and software for power electronics products across all energy products and vehicles. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in planning and executing complex programs, leading large cross-functional teams, and understanding firmware and software system development. Familiarity with power conversion, PCBA development, and power electronics control firmware is essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading short and long-term development projects
  • Managing partnerships with various internal groups
  • Resolving conflicts and influencing cross-functional teams
  • Creating and managing detailed project schedules
  • Raising the bar on product and team quality
  • Inspiring and leading internal improvement initiatives
  • Managing regular production releases
  • Balancing tactical needs with strategic focus

The role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in project management tools, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent experience) is required, along with 3+ years of experience leading large, cross-functional teams and working with software or firmware teams.

  • 3+ years experience leading large, cross-functional teams as a program manager or engineering leader
  • 3+ years working with software or firmware teams, as a developer or tester
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, JIRA, Confluence, and Git
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to grasp complex technical topics and manage risks
  • Ability to make decisions and work in a dynamic environment
