Description For Lead Automation Developer

The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Automation Developer to join their Information Digital Technology and Security (IDT&S) organization's Lean IT Innovation team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the development of enterprise-wide automation solutions while working for one of the world's leading aerospace companies.

The position involves creating and implementing scalable automation solutions that align with Lean IT and IT4IT initiatives. As the Lead Automation Developer, you'll be responsible for designing cross-platform automation tools, developing policy-as-code frameworks, and leveraging cutting-edge generative artificial intelligence to modernize legacy systems and enhance developer productivity across the enterprise.

This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in multiple programming languages including Python, PowerShell, and Bash. You'll work with both Windows and Linux platforms, implementing sophisticated automation solutions using tools like Open Policy Agent (OPA), HashiCorp Sentinel, and cloud-specific policies for AWS and Azure.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $134,300 – $194,350, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and various insurance programs. Boeing provides a collaborative work environment with hybrid work options across multiple locations in the United States.

Key aspects of the role include mentoring team members, collaborating with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Engineering, and Compliance teams, and driving productivity through implementation of reusable scripts and integration of low-code/no-code platforms. You'll also be responsible for embedding automation into CI/CD pipelines and ensuring proper API testing, observability, and policy enforcement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automation professional looking to make a significant impact in a large-scale enterprise environment while working on cutting-edge technologies and practices in the aerospace industry.
