Founding Infrastructure Software Engineer

Apple Intelligence and Google Gemini are about to onboard 4 billion people to voice assistants that actually talk like people. This marks a new beginning for voice as the world's default interface. We will all want voice everywhere. Businesses are not ready. Products are not ready.

We're building the infrastructure that helps developers close the gap between the raw model and voice AI in production. We launched in March, scaled revenue, and raised funding this past week. We're a small team of 6 and growing, building out the founding team in-person in SF to scale what's working.

As the Founding Infrastructure Software Engineer, you will:

• Be responsible for scaling Vapi's real-time conversational infrastructure to millions of concurrent calls
• Ensure every call gets picked up within 1s with 99.9% reliability
• Own scalability projects end-to-end, from shipping pre-scoped projects within 7 days to independent projects within 30 days
• Build and implement monitoring systems, including prometheus rules and real-time latency spike alerts
• Develop anti-fragility features into the infrastructure, such as auto multi-cluster rollover

You'll be a foundational part of how we build the culture at Vapi, working directly with the founding team to shape the future of voice AI infrastructure. • Deep experience with Kubernetes, Pulumi, or scaling distributed systems
• Strong communication skills to articulate both technical thoughts and emotional intelligence
• A proven track record of shipping infrastructure projects independently
