Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer

As a Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer at Vapi, you'll be at the forefront of building the platform for the future of voice technology. Our market edge is extensible, reliable infrastructure designed for the full complexity of voice interactions. In just 18 months, we've grown to 150k developers and are adding 1000 every day.

Your primary responsibility will be scaling Vapi's real-time conversational infrastructure to handle millions of concurrent calls while maintaining a 1-second pickup time with 99.9% reliability. As a foundational team member, you'll also help shape Vapi's engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement reliable, scalable infrastructure solutions
• Build well-instrumented and monitored systems
• Lead technical architecture decisions for voice processing systems
• Mentor and guide other engineers on infrastructure best practices

Required Technical Skills:

• Deep experience with Kubernetes and distributed systems
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust
• Strong background in DevOps and infrastructure engineering
• Experience scaling systems for high concurrency

What Makes You a Great Fit:

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on infrastructure
• Previous experience as a Founding/Infrastructure/DevOps Engineer
• 1+ year experience at a seed or Series A startup
• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical decisions
• Mission-driven mindset and passion for voice technology
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to take initiative and drive projects
